Obama, Biden Tour Beaver County Plant

POTTER TOWNSHIP (KDKA) ― Democratic Presidential Nominee Sen. Barack Obama and his running mate Sen. Joe Biden toured a biodiesel fuel plant in Potter Township.

The stop came ahead of their bus tour stop at Irvine Park in Beaver.

The PF Technologies plant essentially takes chicken fat and turns it into high-grade diesel fuel. Obama made it clear in his tour that it's this kind of fuel that will make America's future go if he's elected.

"It is an example of how we can create jobs, new industry, save our environment, recycle products that might otherwise go to waste," Obama said.

PF Technologies Vice President P. J. Copple had a chance to talk to Obama.

"He's for alternate energy, he's for biofuels, he wants this to work so we both have a common goal," he said.

During the tour, Obama did have a chance to talk about Sen. John McCain's Vice Presidential Pick, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

"I think it's one more indicator of this country moving forward, the fact that you've got a woman as … one of the vice presidential nominee[s of]one of the major parties I think is one more hit against that glass ceiling," Obama said.

The tour wrapped up in about an hour. The facility marks their first official stop together in the 67-day stint to the general election.

Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin will hold a rally Saturday at Consol Energy Park in Washington at 3 p.m.
