Luke Ravenstahl Wins Mayoral Election

WEB EXTRA: Watch Luke Ravenstahl's Victory Speech

PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) ― Luke Ravenstahl has once again been elected mayor of Pittsburgh.

This was Ravenstahl's fourth election in three years and this time he beat out Independent candidates Kevin Acklin and Franco "Dok" Harris.

By winning this election, Ravenstahl gets a full four-year term with no chance of change until 2013.

Ravenstahl grabbed 55 percent of the vote with Harris coming in with 25 percent and Acklin taking 19 percent with 100 percent of precincts reporting.

Ravenstahl said the road ahead won't be easy.

"It's going to be difficult. We acknowledged that throughout the campaign. We need more revenue," he said. "We need to make tough decisions. We have pension obligations that are significant, we have a serious debt issue, so we've begun to put plans in place to deal with those and we'll continue to do so."

"Let's grow this city, give a voice to the voiceless and make Pittsburgh the kind of place we all know it can be. One worthy of our rich heritage," Acklin said.

Harris is hoping that Ravenstahl will make better decisions during his four-year term.

"I hope that he takes this as a wake-up call that he needs to surround himself with better people, start making better decisions and start caring about our neighborhoods again," Harris said.

Ravenstahl inherited the seat in September 2006 from his predecessor, Bob O'Connor, who died months into office from a rare brain cancer.

Ravenstahl then won an election in 2007 to complete O'Connor's term.
