Congressman Murtha In Race Of His Political Life

(KDKA) Democratic Congressman John Murtha has thrown around words like "racist" and "redneck" in describing his own constituents and now his comments appear to have put his job in jeopardy.

Murtha is used to winning re-election by 20 points or more but this time he's in a much closer race against Bill Russell who recently retired from the Army and moved here from Virginia to challenge Murtha.

Murtha says he is running on his experience and influence in Congress.

Russell says Murtha has been in Congress too long and is out of touch with voters.
