Suspect May Have Stalked Sexual Assault Victim

JEFFERSON HILLS (KDKA) ― Police say the man who reportedly sexually assaulted a woman in Jefferson Hills may have been stalking her.

The victim, said to be in her 30s, walked down her driveway to check her mail last Friday at about 3 p.m.

When she returned, a stranger was waiting inside. The woman was brutally beaten and sexually assaulted.

The victim, who has health problems, had a fist full of medication shoved down her throat. Her husband, coming home from work, found her unconscious on the living room floor.

Police say the stranger had been noticed in the area in the weeks before. As recently as last week, the victim may have seen the attacker in her backyard looking in the window and called police.

Many people who live in the neighborhood are upset that police waited a few days to alert them. Police were busy checking registered sex offenders in the area.

They also followed a few leads that didn't pan out.

The victim fought back and investigators hope that forensic evidence at the scene will find her attacker.
