Runners To Take Their Mark At Convention Center
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―
If you're thinking about running in Pittsburgh's marathon this spring, there's one more reason to participate: great views of the city!
The course is now officially set for the Dick's Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon; and runners will take their mark at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.
The marathon will start and finish at the convention center's spectacular riverfront location along the Allegheny River..
Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl says he's happy that the race will help showcase the city and that the thousands of runners who participate will get an up-close view of the world's largest LEED-certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) green building!
"The return of the Pittsburgh Marathon is a wonderful chance to showcase all that makes our city great," Mayor Ravenstahl said in a news release.
Aside from changing the start and finish lines, race organizers say the course is very similar to that of past marathons.
Despite Pittsburgh's hilly terrain, runners won't have to climb too many hills as the course is relatively level!
The Pittsburgh Marathon will take place on May 3.
