Mayor's Summer Celebration To Benefit Pgh. Promise

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― In honor of the city's 250th anniversary, Mayor Luke Ravenstahl is inviting residents to his "Summer Celebration."

On Saturday, August 23rd on North Shore right outside PNC Park, people will enjoy non-stop musical entertainment on Federal Street from noon until 8pm!

SCHEDULE:

  • Noon - 1:00 p.m. - DJ Rookie Rick
  • 1:00 - 1:30 p.m.  - Artistree' (R & B/Soul)
  • 1:45 - 2:30 p.m. - Jessica Lee and Co. (Jazz/Blues)
  • 2:45 - 3:45 p.m. - Gary Belloma and the Blue Bombers (R & B/Blues, Rock n' Roll)
  • 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. - Hewlett Anderson Band (Rock and Classic Soft Rock)
  • 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. - Johnny Angel and the Halos (Doo-Wop/Soul/R & B)
  • 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. - The Original Tymes (Hit Records in '60s and '70s)

Then, a Kid's Zone, located on Isabella Street, will feature a variety of activities including a roving art cart.

And General Robinson Street and parking lot 6 will set the stage for a classic car cruise -- all of the days of events are benefiting a good cause.

Mayor Luke Ravenstahl said, "There will be a participation fee of $5 per car. All proceeds from that as well as the entire event will be donated to the Pittsburgh Promise Scholarship Fund."

Mayor Ravenstahl also says this will be the first time public money will benefit the Pittsburgh Promise.

They expect to raise between $25,000 and $30,000.
