PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Approximately 75,000 people were in Pittsburgh to celebrate the city's 250th anniversary.

The anniversary was marked by live entertainment, family fun and Pittsburgh pride.

"When I think of where we are today and when I think of the fact that 250 years ago this wasn't here, but what a pivotal, an incredible part of history we are," said Lisa George of Edinboro.

Pittsburgh has come a long way in 250 years. First becoming a major port, then part of the Industrial Revolution, it was a city built with determination and a tough work ethic.

Today, Pittsburgh has emerged as a gleaming city, an international medical center with a rapidly growing high-tech industry.

"It's just amazing how things have evolved and changed and just everything that's new and renewing things as well," Elizabeth Errico, from Aspinwall, said.

After festivities all throughout the day, the celebration was capped by the largest fireworks display ever in the city.
