PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― It's a party in Pittsburgh and local leaders offered a preview today of what they are calling a once-in-a-lifetime event as the 'Burgh celebrates 250 years.

"We've been named a lot good things recently, 'America's Most Livable City,' we saw the USA Today article, recently Forbes.com and I think they're going to name us here, in the very near future, the one city that knows how to celebrate a birthday party," said Mayor Luke Ravenstahl.

The Majestic, of the Gateway Clipper Fleet was the setting today for a preview of the city's 250th celebration coming up on October 3rd and 4th.

The two day event will showcase the ongoing signature projects like the transformation of Point State Park and the 150 mile Great Allegheny Passage.

"Attracting visitors to a world class trail with an end point at Point State Park we're also creating a positive economic impact not only in Pittsburgh but in trail towns throughout the region," said Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato.

On that Saturday, people will be able to join in on the bike trail ride arriving in Point State Park kicking off an afternoon of free entertainment with local musicians and so much more.
