Sports Museum Celebrates Pittsburgh's Champions
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―
The Parade of Champions starts Friday in Pittsburgh as part of the city's 250th anniversary celebration.
The exhibit will honor the city's legendary sports teams at the Sports History Museum.
But one of the most-anticipated features are the trophies from the Steelers' five Super Bowl wins, the Pirates' World Series wins and a few others.
"It's the first time the trophies have been together. And the '71 world series trophy actually had to come back to Pittsburgh from Ohio where it now lives on the Galbraith Estate. So we had to do a little bit of negotiating, send a team out there to collect it," Anne Madarasz, director of the museum, said.
More than 50 athletes from six different sports spanning more than 70 years will be on hand for the festivities.
The festivities start at 10 a.m. and run until 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
