Pet Oxygen Masks Donated To Local Fire Department

MOUNT LEBANON (KDKA) ― One local fire department is making an extra effort to make sure family pets get the help they need in emergency situations.

The Mount Lebanon Fire Department says they now have oxygen masks for cats and dogs.

Joe Hirsch, from the Hearts and Paws Ministry at the Bethel Park Christ United Methodist Church, donated the masks which come in three special pet sizes – one for cats and two for dogs depending on their size.

"Standard oxygen masks don't fit an animal," said Hirsch. "So if we can outfit the fire department, and save an animal then someone who has lost their home doesn't have another loss to deal with."

The Bethel Park Fire Department says they also keep three of these types of masks on each of their truck.
