Sharks Move To Zoo's Water's Edge Exhibit

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Some menacing creatures were on the move at the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium and it was no easy feat.

It took a pickup truck, a baby pool and about a dozen workers in wet suits to move several sand tiger sharks to the Water's Edge exhibit.

At least four sand tiger sharks are moving from quarantined tanks to the exhibits. The sharks arrived at the zoo over the summer and weigh between 150 to 300 pounds.

Dr. Barbara Baker, president and CEO of the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium, says it will be spring of 2009 before all eight sharks are in the exhibit.
