PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Three peregrine falcon eggs atop the Cathedral of Learning have hatched.

The first chick broke out of its shell on Wednesday afternoon and the others followed shortly after.

The nest is monitored by the Pittsburgh FalconCam, a joint project between the National Aviary, University of Pittsburgh and the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

Peregrine falcons remain on Pennsylvania's endangered species list.

Officials say the chicks will receive bands from the Pennsylvania Game Commission and a medical exam by the National Aviary staff in the coming weeks.
