Coyotes Confront Woman, Dog In North Park
NORTH PARK (KDKA) ―
A woman was confronted by three coyotes when she was walking her dog in North Park.
Donna LaDow says the animals cornered her at about 6:30 a.m. near the old Wildwood Strip Mine area of the park.
She says the coyotes circled her. LaDow says she put her dog between her feet to protect him and yelled at the coyotes to get away.
They came as close as two feet from her. She called her husband and then threw her cell phone to distract the coyotes.
Gary Fujak, from the Pennsylvania Game Commission, says the woman was not in danger, saying that coyotes should not attack people, but they are territorial and probably wanted her dog to leave.
Fujak says it's best to keep moving and the coyotes will eventually go their own way.
It took LaDow 45 minutes to get away and she's thankful it all ended well.
