Pit Bulls Killed After Mauling Small Dog

LATROBE (KDKA) ― Three pit bulls had to be put down after they mauled another dog in a Latrobe family's backyard.

Trista Lawson says she put her Shitzu, Odie, in the backyard Sunday evening but later realized something was wrong.

She says when she looked outside there were four dogs pulling on her family's pet.

She says she yelled and threw things at the pit bull-boxer mixes, but they didn't even realize she was there.

Police eventually came and shot two of the dogs. They - along with another that was captured - were euthanized by an animal control officer.

A fourth dog was seen running from the scene by neighbors and is believed to remain at large.

The dogs are owned by Martin Cramer who also lives in Latrobe.

He says the dogs got out on accident but have never acted like this before.

Animal control officers cited Cramer on August 26 for not having his dogs licensed.

They say he will be cited again in connection with this incident.
