Black Bear Sightings Increase In Indiana County

(KDKA) Pennsylvania Game Commission officers in southern Indiana County say they are getting more calls of black bear sightings than usual.

In fact, they've gotten more than double the calls so far than they usually get in an entire season. The bears generally won't harm humans but they can be a nuisance.

Game Commission officers say eliminating food sources such as garbage cans and bird feeders will help to keep bears out of your yard.

They attribute the higher number of sightings to new development on what was traditionally open land.
