Dead Pets Found In Local House Of Filth
UNIONTOWN (KDKA) ―
Dozens of pets, some of them dead, were found in a house of filth in Uniontown.
Humane officers from the Fayette County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals say there was so much feces and so many dead animals in the home they had to wear bio-hazard suits and breathing masks.
"Probably about four cats, four adult cats, in the freezer mixed in with their food," Humane officer Elizabeth Davidson-Speelman said. "And then they had dead kittens - variety of different dead kittens all over the house. There was a dead cat underneath the mattress."
She also says a ferret was found dead on one of their mantles.
Nearly 30 living cats, rabbits, ferrets and even a turtle were taken from the house. Authorities say they plan to file animal cruelty charges against the family.
A child also lived in the home. Officials contacted Children and Youth Services.
The house was condemned.
In time, humane officers hope to gain custody of all the animals they seized and eventually have them placed in loving homes.
