Cell Phone May Be Cause Of Deadly Wreck

BOSTON (AP) ― Federal investigators are looking into passenger reports that a train operator was on a cell phone moments before the trolley slammed into another train.

The accident killed her and injured more than a dozen passengers in Newton, Massachusetts.

Investigators say the probe is in the beginning stages, but they plan to assess equipment, human performance and safety systems.

They're also set to begin interviews tomorrow with operators of the train that was struck, the surviving crewman in the trolley that rammed it and command center supervisors.
