CHICAGO (CBS) ― If you haven't booked your tickets to Washington, D.C. yet, there's still hope.

Flights are available, but tickets may cost you an arm and a leg, CBS station WBBM-TV reports.

Back in November, at least three airlines in the Chicago area said they would make the trip a little easier for passengers by making some changes. For Southwest and AirTran airlines, with both fly out of Midway, that meant adding flights to airports around the nation's capital.

Delta announced that it would add as many as 600 seats on Saturday by assigning larger aircraft and as many as 900 additional seats for folks to bring them back home.

At the American terminal, CBS 2 found a woman who was brimming with excitement as she headed to experience history in the making.

Saturday afternoon, United Airlines reportedly had at least 12 flights headed to Ronald Reagan National and Dulles International Airport. American Airlines and American Eagle both had seven flights listed.

Most of them left on time, so weather has not been a factor.
