Some Severe Storms Moving Through Region

Weather: Current Conditions | Local Radar | Weather Map

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― The blistering temperatures and humidity prompted environmental officials to issue an Air Quality Action Day across the state today, while some thunderstorms moved through the area tonight.

KDKA Meteorologist Jeff Verszyla says the overnight hours will be muggy but mild.

He says the skies will remain cloudy and the potential for some scattered thunderstorms will continue.

"We'll see showers continuing across parts of the area overnight and maybe into the early part of the day tomorrow there could be a couple showers lingering," said Verszyla.

He says the front is slow-moving.

"We likely will get a break late tonight, but we may see some things redeveloping again during the early part of the day tomorrow when the front will actually be slowly crossing the area," said Verszyla. "By afternoon, it shifts off to the east and high pressure starts to build in with some slightly cooler and drier air for the start of the weekend."
