Tornado Warning Sends People Running For Cover

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― A tornado warning in Lawrence and Butler Counties had people running for cover Tuesday evening.

A strong storm, that may have contained a tornado, made its way from the New Castle area to northern Butler County between 8 and 9:15 p.m.

So far, there are no reports of major damage and only scattered power outages.

There are reports that a tree struck a car in Mahoning Township, Lawrence County.

However, no one was injured.

Four men were fishing at Lake Arthur in Moraine State Park when the storm quickly approached.

They describe what happened when a wall of rain and driving winds ripped across the park and they spotted what they believed to be a funnel cloud forming.

"It looked like it," said Chad Beck.  "It was kinda the shape and everything.  I thought I might have seen a tail coming up and coming down and everything.  It looked like it, it really did."

"The winds came on really, really strong," said Cory St. Esprit.  "All of our fishing stuff starting blowing everywhere.  We tried to see if we could just wait it out.  We waited under a bridge just to see what we could do.  It eventually got so bad we just had to run to a bathroom.  That's where we kind of waited out the rest of the storm."

None of the four men was injured.

Their fishing gear, however, was lost in the storm.
