Route 30 Crash Leaves Teen Dead, Others Injured

LAUGHLINTOWN (KDKA) ― A crash in Laughlintown claimed the life of a Somerset County teenager and left several others injured.

The accident happened early Saturday morning along Route 30 in Westmoreland County.

Joseph Bradley, the principal of North Star High School, says the students and a parent were on their way home from Friday night's Britney Spears concert at Mellon Arena when the crash occurred.

Bradley says 15-year-old John Blough, a freshman, was killed in the crash.

He called Blough a nice, young man with leadership potential who was college-bound.

The principal told KDKA the group was returning home after the concert in separate vehicles when the car Blough was in was rear-ended by a third vehicle.

Bradley said one of the other students involved in the crash attended a different school, but the others attended North Star High School.

Grief counselors will be on hand at the middle and high school on Monday to help the students deal with the loss.

Stay with KDKA for the latest details.
