Area residents to the north were hit the hardest by today's snow and signs of Old Man Winter could be seen everywhere you turned.
Engines revving and motorists digging out were a common site along Interstate 79 in Jackson Township, Butler County. Drivers were caught off guard by the slick road conditions.
"We were just driving and it got a little slushy. We hit some rough patches, tried to control it and it wasn't going to happen," said Clint Lienau, in the area from North Carolina.
Meanwhile, plow drivers were busy all over Butler County. In Portersville, one plow driver spent hours scraping up the snow, but he didn't seem to mind.
"It's kind of invigorating, gives me something to do on a Sunday afternoon," said Roy Kerry, of Sharpsville.
At Brown's Country Kitchen in Portersville, diners who braved the weather were happy to be inside keeping warm.
"There's a lot of elderly people and the weather really scares them," said waitress, Lauren McDevit.
And those without plows used good old-fashioned shovels to clear away what Mother Nature left behind. One man from Zelienople was working hard to clear away the white stuff.
"Since first light until it got dark, then we went back again," said Wes Flugher. "We beat the snow for a long time; sooner or later it had to come."
