Region Prepares For Another Wintry Blast

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Lake effect snow showers are moving across western Pennsylvania and are expected to last overnight and through Friday.

KDKA Chief Meteorologist Jeff Verszyla expects two to three inches to fall in and around Allegheny County.

Five to nine inches could accumulate north of Interstate 80 and six to 10 inches could fall in the higher elevations southeast of Allegheny County.

Friday's temperatures are expected to stay in the 20's with scattered snow showers and gusty winds at times.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Clarion, Indiana, Jefferson and Lawrence County through 6 p.m. on Friday.

The National Weather Service has also issued a Winter Storm Warning for Cambria, Fayette, Somerset and Westmoreland counties and a Lake Effect Snow Warning for Crawford, Mercer and Venango.

Meanwhile, in West Virginia a Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Preston County. In Maryland, Garrett County is also under a warning.

Officials are also warning drivers to be cautious and watch for snow-covered roads and limited visibility.
