PennDOT has announced that they stepped in to clean up a pile of more
than 200 dead deer in the yard of an Armstrong County man Wednesday morning.
Cleanup efforts began this morning and the all the deer have been removed from the property.
Randy Good had a contract to collect deer from state roads in five counties. When one of his three trucks broke down, he got into a jam.
"In order to keep up with PennDOT demand I had to stockpile them somewhere," he said. "In the backyard is where they had to go."
Good's land is not zoned for businesses. Additionally, the stench was bothering neighbors a half a mile away.
"Been better off it was winter conditions, they wouldn't lay there and rotted like they did but the warm temperatures, which I love and we're having, is making things stink pretty bad," Charles Himes, a neighbor, said.
PennDOT has ended their contract with Good.
