Free Skiing Offered At Hidden Valley

HIDDEN VALLEY (KDKA) ― Local skiers hit the slopes at Hidden Valley Four Seasons Resort today for the first time this season, and were welcomed with an opening day gift: free lift tickets and discounted rentals.

"You can't beat the deal, free lift tickets," said Amy Paul, who would normally pay over $200 to take her family of four skiing for the day.

"We're offering free skiing this weekend and next weekend, December 6th and 7th and free 90 minute group lessons, explained Bob Duppstadt of Hidden Valley Resort. "We've got great snow, we've got nice weather, temperatures are very comfortable, and a lot of people are coming out to see what Hidden Valley has to offer."

In fact, so many people showed up this morning, that officials at Hidden Valley were worried they might run out of rental gear.

They are equipped to handle 2000 skiers in need of rentals.

In spite of the crowds, conditions on the trails were ideal, with 17 to 30 inches of of powder on the ground.

"It's great. The snow is perfect. This is the perfect day to be skiing," said Johnna Scrabis of the North Hills after she and her mother took their first run of the day.

Or, as Bob Goehring of O'Hara Township described, "Any day you're skiing is a great day."

Hidden Valley will be offering free skiing from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday November 28th through Sunday November 30th along with Saturday December 6th, and Sunday December 7th.
