Police have made an arrest in the case of a pregnant woman who was shot.
Martin Patterson, 47, of Ambridge, is accused of accidentally shooting 26-year-old Aliza Musser on Interstate 79.
She was shot while riding on the back of a motorcycle near the Neville Island exit earlier this month.
Police say Patterson was taking target practice at a nearby gun range and a stray bullet from his gun hit Musser. According to police, Patterson fired the bullet over the hillside, instead of shooting at a target 40 to 60 yard away.
"Through process of elimination, through receipts
ammo boxes that were recovered, they were able to narrow it down to specific people who were there that day," said Trooper Robin Mungo, of the Pa. State Police.
Neither Musser nor her unborn baby was seriously hurt.
"That girl has got to be the most unluckiest person I know," said Keith McElrath, of the Coraopolis Sportsman's Club. "To be riding on a motorcycle 2.6 miles away and get shot. You couldn't do that on purpose."
Patterson is charged with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.
