Greensburg Students Charged In 'Sexting'
GREENSBURG (KDKA) ―
Six Greensburg Salem High School students are facing juvenile charges for possessing child pornography.
Greensburg Police say three girls, ages 14 and 15, text messaged nude pictures of themselves to three boys, ages 16 and 17.
It's something teenagers around the country call "sexting."
Police say they first learned about the pictures at Greensburg Salem High School back in October. They say a student had a phone turned on in class, which is against school policy. They say an administrator then confiscated the phone and found the pictures.
The school then contacted police who launched an investigation and found the other pictures.
They say this is a disturbing trend because once the pictures are on a cell phone - they could get on the internet.
Police say both the people sending the pictures and those receiving them are at fault. They say if you get a picture that you think is inappropriate the best thing to do is delete it and call police.
The six teens are awaiting a hearing in juvenile court. Police say more charges could be filed against other students if more pictures are found.
