Crews Locate Body At Penn Hills Cement Plant

PENN HILLS (KDKA) ― Police in Penn Hills found the body of a young man at the site of a concrete plant.

The Penn Hills police chief says crews found the body of a white male in his 20s, hidden under concrete and debris.

Authorities are calling his death a homicide.

Penn Hills police tell us that the search started when they received a report about a missing man from the Etna area on Saturday.

KDKA's Kym Gable reports that the chief says a tip led them to the Old Atlas Cement Plant in the 1900-block of Universal Road.

The area is more than 100 acres in a remote section of the municipality and there are several buildings on that land.

But crews say they focused their search on a wooded area.

Allegheny County Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators were called in to help with the search.

Officials say the darkness and rain hampered the search efforts a bit, but the fire department provided high-powered lights to help.

An autopsy is underway to determine the person's identity.
