Hundreds Attend Support The Troops Rally In Beaver
BEAVER (KDKA) ―
As the Fourth of July holiday weekend continues, hundreds turned out today for Beaver County's annual rally in support of American troops.
This was the eighth year for the annual rally.
John Kent, a veteran of the Korean War, was just one of several veterans honored today during the rally.
"I don't know what to say but thank everybody very much," said Kent. "I didn't choose to do it, but everybody did it."
Veterans from nearly every American war, families and even some local politicians joined in the celebration of American freedom.
"This is a special presentation in Beaver County today and they have done a wonderful job of putting together this support the troops rally specifically designed to bring the community together," said Congressman Jason Altmire.
"We need to make sure we're providing for them the proper care, the proper support cause these are men and women are in the military. They're can-do people," said Melissa Hart, former Congresswoman. "They're not going to ask us for help. So we need to make sure we're there for them."
Officials say this year's rally had one of the best turnouts in years and they hope that the trend will continue.
