Indiana Co. Plane Crash Victims Hospitalized

WHITE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) ― FAA investigators remain on the scene of a small plane crash in Indiana County.

The single engine Piper Cherokee plane went down around 6:30 p.m. Sunday in a wooded area of White Township about a half mile from the Jimmy Stewart Airport.

FAA spokesman Jim Peters says the plane was registered to Mark Goldinger, of Dayton, Armstrong County.

Peters says Goldinger was on a sightseeing trip at the time of the crash.

Family members at the airport say Goldinger was flying with his son and a friend at the time of the crash.

Airport Manager Todd Heming says conditions deteriorated after Goldinger's plane took off.

He says there was heavy fog last night as well as a light rain.

He says Goldinger made several unsuccessful attempts to land and when they didn't hear from him they worried that he may have crashed.

FAA officials say the plane was completely destroyed and the tail was severed from the aircraft.

Goldinger and his two passengers were taken to Conemaugh Memorial Hospital in Johnstown where Goldinger is listed in fair condition.

The FAA and NTSB are investigating.
