Home Phone Service Out In Munhall

MUNHALL (KDKA) ― At least 600 customers are without home phone service in Munhall, Homestead, Whittaker and West Mifflin.

Those outages could affect how residents contact police.

Cell phone service has not been affected.

Those who do not have cell phones are urged to use a neighbor's phone.

Any residents who need to call for police, fire, or paramedics should call 412-464-7300.

Verizon is aware of the situation and is working on the problem, which is due to heavy rains.

Verizon tells KDKA that the problem is being complicated by water in the manholes where the the lines are located.

West Mifflin Mayor John Andzelik says phones service could be out for four to seven days.
