PennDot Announces Weekend Road Closures

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― PennDot announced a host of lane closures and construction sites for the upcoming weekend in and around the city.

Parkway East

The outbound Parkway East will be closed nightly between exits 80 and 84. The on-ramp from Penn Hills to the outbound Parkway East will also be closed. The closures are so that crews can place structural beams for a new bridge in the area.

Closure Schedule

  • Friday, Oct. 23 From 9 p.m. on Friday to 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24
  • Saturday, Oct. 24 From 10 p.m. on Saturday to 10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25
  • Sunday, Oct. 25 From 7 p.m. on Sunday to 5 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 26

Parkway North

The Parkway North will experience lane closures on the inbound side of the road so that concrete patching can be done between Interstate 79 and the Bellevue West Interchange.

Closure Schedule:

Southbound:

Single lane closure (one lane open) from 10 a.m. on Friday to 11 a.m. on Sunday; concrete patching will occur.

Northbound:

No restrictions scheduled.

Fort Duquesne Bridge

The Fort Duquesne Bridge will have single lane closures on the inbound ramp from the Fort Pitt Bridge.

Closure Schedule

Friday: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24. Lane closures will occur on the ramp.

The ramp will remain open during this work. Crews will be conducting concrete deck repairs.

McKees Rocks Bridge

The McKees Rocks Bridge will be closed on both sides to all traffic from 7 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday Oct. 26.

Route 60

Route 60 will be closed to southbound thru-traffic near the Route 51/19 Saw Mill Run Boulevard overpass in the West End from 10 p.m. on Friday night, Oct. 23, to 6 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24.

The temporary closure is so crews can install steel beams to construct the new ramp over Route 60 that will connect Steuben Street to southbound Route 51/19 Saw Mill Run Boulevard.

I-79

A single lane closure will be in effect near the bridge over the Pennsylvania Turnpike from noon on Saturday through 6 a.m. Monday so that crews can replace the bridge deck.

Two northbound lanes will remain open, but will be shifted onto the right shoulder, while the off-ramp to Route 19 will remain open.

Route 8

Southbound lanes of Route 8 to the 62nd Street Bridge will be closed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. The northbound side will remain open. Detour signs will be posted for motorists in the southbound lanes.
