Pedestrian Safety Initiative Going On In City

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Pedestrian accidents are being called an epidemic in Pittsburgh, but it is also believed they can be prevented if more safety measures such as crosswalks and pedestrian signals are put in place.

Local public officials launched a campaign to try to enforce pedestrian safety on Wednesday..

Any death involving a motorist and a pedestrian is one too many

Whenever roads and pedestrians are busy, there is always the potential for danger.

That is why police are out to educate and inform the public.

According to PennDOT statistics, there were six accidents in the district involving cars and pedestrians. All six were fatal.

Police were out in full force in Oakland Wednesday for the pedestrian safety enforcement initiative.

They want to decrease the number of pedestrian related accidents.

Fifth Avenue has its fair share of cars for pedestrians to contend with.

No matter who is at fault, police will be making sure everyone is safe.
