Columbus' Replica Ships Arrive In Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― In 1492, Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue and now replicas of two of the three famed ships are docked on the North Shore.

The replicas of the 'Nina' and 'Pinta' arrived at the North Shore River Front Park on Tuesday and opened to the public Wednesday.

According to a press release, the 'Nina' was built entirely by hand without the assistance of power tools and is widely considered to be the most historically accurate replica ever built.

The 'Pinta' was built in Brazil and is a larger version of the one that Columbus used.

Prices for admission are $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and $5 for children. Children 4 and under are free.

The ships are open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will be in town until Nov. 16.
