A gas main break in downtown Pittsburgh caused some tense moments this afternoon.
Crews working on the Port Authority's tunnel project along Stanwix Street apparently struck a gas line just before 1 p.m.
Witnesses report hearing a roaring sound and a strong natural gas odor in the area.
Some Community College of Allegheny County classrooms and several businesses inside the 625 Stanwix Building were evacuated as a precaution. No formal evacuations were issued.
No one was injured.
KDKA's John Shumway reports it took about 30 minutes for Equitable Gas crews to arrive and stop the flow of the gas.
Crews are now repairing the line.
Stay with KDKA for more information.
