Investigators Working To Identify Mystery Man

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Police are asking for the public's help as they try to uncover the mysterious identity of a man arrested more than a week ago.

The man was taken into custody on the night of Oct. 13 when he was found in Millvale on Route 28 near the 40th Street Bridge.

When, police approached him, they say he became violent and jumped in their police vehicle.

"He actually dove into the window of the police car while the officer was still in the car," said Lt. Jack Kearney, of the Allegheny County Sheriff's Department, "and started punching the computer and broke the screen off the laptop computer that was mounted in the car."

So far, officials say he has refused to talk to officials. Instead, he is being kept in a hospital where authorities say he is talking to himself, as well as pray and chanting.

According to police, they have checked the man's fingerprints and no criminal record has been found in the state. Now, the FBI is completing a national check.

He is described as being in his mid 30s, 5'7" tall and 135 pounds with brown hair and green eyes.

Also, investigators say the man has a large tattoo on his back along with the word, "veritas."

Anyone with information is being asked to call the Allegheny County Sheriff's Department.
