Former Nursing Home Operator Goes To Prison

(KDKA) The former operator of the Atrium I Nursing Home started serving her prison sentence today.

Martha Bell is now serving five years at a West Virginia federal prison for a health care fraud conviction.

Once that sentence is complete, Bell will serve up to three and a half years in state prison.

A jury convicted Bell last week on several charges including involuntary manslaughter stemming from the October 2001 death of 88-year-old Mabel Taylor, who wandered outside her nursing home residence in Robinson on a cold night.

Taylor died of exposure after becoming trapped outside in the cold. Her body was found the next morning.
