Veteran Faces Suit Over American Flag Decorations

ROBINSON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) ― A local veteran is being sued by officials at the condominium where she lives for decorating her porch with American flags.

Denise James, of Robinson Township, served in both the Air Force and the Pennsylvania Air National Guard.

According to the Beaver County Times Online, James is now facing a lawsuit from The McKenzie Place Condominium Association over the small flags displayed in the garden area outside of her condo.

Officials say other neighbors are flying their flags legally because they are attached to their condos. A 2005 state law protects that.

The Beaver County Times Online reports that last week the association told her that if she removed her decorations they would settle; however, she did not want to do that.

Meanwhile, officials that manage the condo said a hearing has been postponed until August, the Beaver County Times also reports.

KDKA's Mary Robb Jackson did try to reach the "Stevenson-Williams Management Company in Mt. Lebanon and their attorney, but calls were not returned.

Stay with KDKA for much more on this story.
