Judge To Release Names Of Wecht Jury Today
PITTSBURGH (AP) ―
A federal judge is set to release the name of jurors who could not decide whether to convict former Allegheny County Coroner Cyril Wecht of fraud charges in April.
U.S. District Judge Arthur Schwab had earlier released the names of all jurors summoned in the case.
But he didn't differentiate between those picked for the trial and those in the overall jury pool.
Schwab declared a mistrial when the jury deadlocked in April.
Prosecutors want to retry Wecht, but his attorneys have asked an appeals court to dismiss the case.
That decision is still pending.
Wecht is accused of using his former Allegheny County coroner's staff to do work for his lucrative private practice.
