Man With Gun At Obama Rally Wanted 'Quiet Protest'

BEAVER (KDKA) ― Closing arguments will begin Thursday morning in the trial of a man who brought a gun to a Barack Obama rally last summer.

John Noble, 51, was charged with disorderly conduct and disrupting a public meeting after carrying his 9mm handgun outside the rally on Aug. 29 at Irvine Park in Beaver.

Supporters of Noble brought their own guns to the courthouse.

Noble has a license to carry a gun, but prosecutors say the sight of it created public alarm.

Noble says his intent was a "quiet protest."

"We have nothing left in western Pennsylvania but our guns and bibles," he told the court.

The man who told police about the weapon back in October testified he was afraid for his family when he saw the gun in the holster.
