City Unveils New iPhone Application

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― The city of Pittsburgh is going high tech in an effort to respond to city complaints such as potholes and snow blocking driveways more quickly.

The technology utilizes the iPhone in a new free application called iBurgh. This new program is meant as an extension of the city's 311 complaint line.

The application guides you through the steps to report a problem.

First, you take a picture of what you're complaining about.

Second, you add a caption to explain the problem.

Finally, it will automatically give the city your exact location and send in your complaint.

City Councilman Bill Peduto says Pittsburgh is the first major city in the nation to use an iPhone application like this.

"Pittsburgh today is launching and iBurgh will be the first mobile application for city government. It's the beginning, the beginning of many more," Peduto said.

Best of all it's free to the user and has cost the city nothing because the company Yinzcam Incorporated donated the cost.

"I moved into Pittsburgh 10 years ago and I fell in love with the city. Not just for its sports, but for some many things including its people. So, I'm really thrilled to have a chance to do this for Pittsburgh," Yinzcam President Priya Narasimhan said.
