Man Faces Hearing In Shooting During Chess Game

GREENSBURG (KDKA) ― A Westmoreland County man is facing a preliminary hearing today after police say a game of chess last week led to gunfire.

Zachary Lucov, 23, is facing several charges including aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and recklessly endangering children.

According to police, another man, Dennis Klein, and Lucov were playing chess and drinking when he pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot himself.

An official with the Greensburg Police Department said a scuffle broke out when the other man grabbed for the gun, and it went off. Authorities say Klein suffered a wound to the elbow.

Also, investigators say a bullet nearly missed Lucov's young son who was on the floor at the time of the incident.
