Man Arrested After Westmoreland Co. Hatchet Attack

DERRY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) ― A Westmoreland County man was arrested after attacking a woman with a hatchet on Thursday.

According to police, Brian Maybury, 22, of Derry swung a hatchet at a 23-year-old female several times.

The incident happened at the Dogwood Acres Trailer Park around 2:15 a.m.

The third swing connected and caused severe injuries to the woman.

Maybury was arrested at the scene without incident and is being lodged at the Westmoreland County Prison on $75,000 bond.

There is no word on the woman's condition at this time.
