Hasbro Recalls Nerf Blaster

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― The Hasbro Nerf "N-Strike Recon CS-6 Blaster" sure looks like a lot of fun to play with, and for hundreds of thousands of children it was, until some of the suffered injuries from the toy.

The problem is the moveable plunger at the back of the toy. More than 40 families have reported that the skin on their childrens' faces and necks got caught in the moving part causing bruises, abrasions and blood blisters, leading the Consumer Product Safety Commission and Hasbro to recall the toy.

In all, Hasbro has recalled 330,000 blasters, model number 63552, which sold for about $20 at Walmart, Toys R Us, Target and discount and toy stores from November 2007 through this past August. Again, a child's skin can get caught in the plunger that cocks the toy.

The toy is also distinguished by the fact that it has five interchangeable parts including the shoulder stock, the flip-up sight, barrel extension, quick re-load clip and light beam. Consumers should immediately take the recalled blasters away.
