Officials Break Ground For Townhouse Development
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―
A groundbreaking ceremony was held today for a townhouse development construction project in the city of Pittsburgh.
Developers say Sweetbriar Village will be a cluster of townhomes that will sit back from the glitzy perch of Grandview Avenue.
Potential resident, Gary Thomas, says he hopes to move in as soon as construction is done in the fall.
"We don't have a view, but just the area itself; you're so convenient to stores, shopping, highways, byways," said Thomas, of Mount Washington. You can be in downtown in two minutes."
The developer of Sweetbriar Village says he envisions something like the Chatham Village development, which was built back in the 1930's and is hidden away on Mount Washington.
Officials say only 22 townhomes are planned at Sweetbriar.
"They're gonna appeal to young professionals that work and live in the city, who want the close proximity to the city, but they also want to live in a suburban community style," said Jeff Paul, of Pomo Development.
Prices will range from $325,000 to $400,000.
