Local Organizations Announce Plans For Green Jobs

More: Going Green

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Pittsburgh isn't just known for its black and gold, it is also turning green.

The Blue Green Alliance along with other organizations announced plans today for the creation of more "green" jobs.

The "Clean Energy and Global Solutions Tour" started at the PNC Firstside Center on First Avenue, which is one of many in the city that has been recognized as a "green" building.

The tour highlighted the need for strengthening ties between the labor industry and the environmental community.

"At the end of the day we are going to be creating great new well paying jobs," said Jack Shea, the Allegheny County Central Labor Council president. "Those jobs are going to be in our building trades and our manufacturing and our service industry."

Participants in today's events boarded an energy efficient bus and toured several companies making environmental strides in our area.
