The city skyline will be more than mere background for the David L. Lawrence Convention Center when President Barack Obama parlays with the world's economic leaders at September's Pittsburgh G-20 Summit.
White House party planners have picked a few other spots about town to do a little presidential schmoozing, too.
"A lot of people don't realize even in our own community that Phipps Conservatory is one of the greenest gardens in the world," says Richard Piacentini.
The President and First Lady will welcome the international crowd at a reception at Phipps followed by a working dinner. Phipps was chosen because of all it's green initiatives, including a tropical forest, which is the world's most energy efficient conservatory.
That same evening at the Heinz estate, Rosemont Farm in Fox Chapel, Michelle Obama will host a private dinner the economic leaders' "significant others."
The Warhol's Tom Sololowski commented on being chosen as a G-20 stop.
"In fact we travel exhibitions all over the world - and you go and you say, 'Who's the most important figure for you young artists, young writers?' [And they say] Andy Warhol!" he said.
The Andy Warhol Museum on the North Shore will be the scene of the First Lady's luncheon. Native son Andy Warhol would have loved the attention.
This museum is always a must see for out-of-towners, everybody from Mick Jagger to Monica Lewinsky have stopped by.
And the G-20 members will honor Pittsburgh's Creative and Performing Arts School in the Cultural District when they take a tour and view a student performance.
But where would Pittsburghers choose to send the VIP's? We went to the Strips District to find out.
Locals had lots of suggestions: "Somewhere on the North Shore. There's lots of things to go like the Carnegie Science Center, the stadium or the new casino."
"Primanti's - they have to go to Primanti's!"
"Heinz Field, PNC Park - All that! ...It's not on the list. That's a shame cause they should be."
White House, State Department staff as well participating countries advance teams will be in town this week for more planning.
