Forecasters: Keep Umbrella Handy This 4th Of July
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―
Forecasters are saying area residents should keep an umbrella handy while heading out to their Fourth of July barbeques and to watch tonight's fireworks displays.
KDKA Meteorologist Valerie Abati says the skies will stay cloudy all day with scattered showers and storms.
"We have these small little waves right along a stationary front, which will mean periods of rain, periods of thunderstorms and otherwise cloudy skies," says Abati.
She says we can expect rain throughout the day, into tonight and into the holiday weekend.
"Periods of these waves will continue to move through and it looks like not only through the morning, but late this afternoon, and into the evening hours some of this will be around as well," Abati says.
She says today's high will be below normal at 75 degrees, and for the fireworks tonight temperatures will be in the mid to upper 60s.
Meanwhile, Abati says we can expect the rainy weather to last through Saturday, and there could be some clearing on Sunday but it may not last long.
"High pressure will try to come in giving us a bit of clearing going into the day Sunday, but that too is going to be brief as the front is still lingering here in western Pennsylvania," she said.
