16-Year-Old Shot, Killed In Hill District Park

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― A teenager was shot and killed late Saturday night in the Hill District when police say he went out to take his dog for a walk.

The shooting happened just before midnight at Robert E. Williams Memorial Park at Milwaukee Street and Adelaide Street in the Upper Hill District neighborhood.

Police have identified the victim as 16-year-old Malik Scott.

Officials say he was pronounced dead at the scene with a gunshot wound to the torso.

According to investigators, Scott went out to take his family dog for a walk and was in the park when shots were fired there.

Police say the remnants of fireworks were found near a recreation building and it appears people may have been gathered in the park before the shooting.

Police say no arrests have been made and they are continuing to investigate.

Anyone with information on the shooting is being asked to call the Pittsburgh Homicide Squad at 412-323-7161.
