A Pittsburgh man is dead after officials say he fled a traffic stop and crashed into a home in Carrick.
Officials say the incident started around 2 a.m. with a traffic stop in Baldwin.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner has identified the man as 29-year-old Devon Holliday of Pittsburgh's Allentown-Beltzhoover area.
According to authorities, Holliday was swerving in his car and his girlfriend was driving her car closely behind him.
That's when officials say Baldwin police stopped Holliday's vehicle. However, he took off from the stop.
Police say the car slammed into a home around 2:30 a.m. at Becks Run Road and Hopeland Street in Pittsburgh's Carrick section.
"I just heard a loud bang and I come down to find a car," said home owner Tom Arbasak. "I just saw a car parked here and a bunch of smoke everywhere."
Authorities say the driver was ejected and died at the hospital.
The crash left debris everywhere and caused property damage including broken windows. Arbasak's door was also smashed in.
One neighbor said the stretch of road can dangerous for drivers who are unfamiliar with it.
"People come up the road too fast and if they're not familiar with the turn, they're into something more than they can handle and they wreck their car," said Steve Pelles.
An autopsy has been planned for later today.
